Watson statue to be moved from Capitol

 

Tom Watson’s time in Georgia has come and gone.

That will be made clear soon when the statue of the former Georgia lawmaker and member of Congress known for his racist and anti-Semitic statements and writings is removed from its prominent position on the steps in front of the state Capitol.

Watson will be taken across the street to a less high-profile spot as part of an upcoming overhaul of Capitol Hill that will create more green space for public gatherings.
